Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has claimed that Enzo Fernandez is one of his dream midfielders to play alongside.

He told Copa90 on TikTok that he was extremely impressed with the Argentine during the World Cup, when he was a key member of the side who won the tournament.

These impressive displays in Qatar convinced Chelsea to smash their transfer record to bring him in after a month of fierce negotiations with Benfica in January.

He has hit the ground running in what is almost undoubtedly the toughest league in the world for new signings to adapt to.

The 22-year-old has been a near ever-present since his move for Graham Potter, and has been shining even brighter since the change of system saw a back three be integrated.

Wilshere praises Fernandez

A few moments of quality have been notable highlights of his time at Stamford Bridge. Assists against Leicester City and West Ham United are of the ability that the Blues have been missing for a long time.

This quality has not been lost on former midfielder Wilshere either, with him claiming that Fernandez is one of the current crop he would love to play with.

When asked that very question, he said: “Do you know who I like as well, and I liked him from the World Cup – I put him in my World Cup XI. Enzo. I think it’ll take some time for him to adapt to the Premier League but I think he’s a top, top player.”

After impressing for Argentina at the weekend, Blues fans will be counting down the days before he is in action for them again.

His next appearance will almost certainly be the Premier League affair with Aston Villa on Saturday.
