Chelsea climbed back into the Premier League’s top four positions with a home win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night, which included a return to the side for Trevoh Chalobah.
The Blues ended a run of five league games without a win by beating Wolves 3-1 yesterday at Stamford Bridge.
Tosin Adarabioyo put Chelsea in front before Matt Doherty equalised for the visitors on the stroke of half time. Thankfully, Enzo Maresca’s side got on top in the second period courtesy of goals from Marc Cucurella and Noni Madueke.
Trevoh Chalobah, 25, was back in the Blues XI for the first time since he was recalled earlier this month from a loan spell at Crystal Palace. The central defender completed 90 minutes and slotted into the line-up effortlessly.
In his post-match interview, Madueke praised Chelsea teammate Chalobah for performing so impressively during his first game back with the Chelsea squad.

Tosin Adarabioyo applauds Trevoh Chalobah display on Chelsea comeback
Yet again, Chelsea lined up with another new central defensive partnership in the Wolves victory. Tosin returned to the XI as the right-sided centre-back, where he partnered Chalobah for the first time.
Tosin thought Chalobah was really impressive in Monday’s contest, especially with his tactical work in the league success.
“[Chalobah] came straight back in and did an amazing job. He did everything flawlessly from a tactical point of view, so I am very happy for him,” Adarabioyo told BBC Sport (10:51pm, 20 January).
Chalobah stood out in Chelsea’s player ratings versus Wolves as the team returned to winning ways.
Even though the Blues were missing Levi Colwill from the heart of defence, the Tosin-Chalobah combination stood firm last night. It’ll be interesting to see if they retain their starting positions for Saturday’s important league trip to Manchester City.

There will be uproar if Chelsea sell Trevoh Chalobah in January
Remarkably, recent transfer rumours suggest that Chalobah can leave Chelsea this month if anyone pays the £40m asking price. If that happens, we’d predict major frustration from the fanbase because the way the academy graduate has been treated in the last year has been extremely distasteful.
Chalobah deserves gigantic praise for the way he excelled on his Chelsea homecoming yesterday.
| Minutes played | Assists | Touches | Accurate passes | Chances created | Interceptions | Clearances | Duels won | Match rating |
| 90 | 1 | 97 | 77/80 (96%) | 2 | 3 | 7 | 6 | 8.3 |
It’s pretty clear that Chalobah can offer a lot to the defence in this current moment, so let’s hope he gets the platform to play an important role in the second half of the season.
