Two Premier League stars, who play for one of Chelsea’s London rivals, have just picked their side in the Eden Hazard and Mohamed Salah debate.

Hazard and Salah are two of the best wingers English football has ever seen, resulting in the two being compared all of the time.

This season, the latter has probably convinced many that he is the superior attacker after some of his performances. Salah has 25 goals and 16 assists in the Premier League currently, meaning that he has replicated one of Hazard’s achievements from the 2018/19 campaign.

For at least two footballers at Brentford, though, the Chelsea legend still comes out on top.

Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa are team Hazard

Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa recently spoke about Hazard, and their opinions cannot be dismissed.

The Brentford duo are dangerous attackers themselves, especially the former, who has scored 15 goals in the Premier League this season.

When explaining why he thought Hazard was the best winger in the competition’s history on Sky Sports’ Saturday Social, Mbeumo said: “I think he could change a game like this [a snap of the finger] by himself. Dribbling, finishing as well, was just too good. And he could just pass the players so easily.”

Wissa then added: “I think I would put Hazard. Honestly, I could… of course, if you need goals, you’d pick Salah definitely or [Cristiano] Ronaldo. When we were young, Hazard, he’s the one you need to watch. If you want to enjoy football, that’s the one you need to watch.”

Hazard is one of Chelsea’s best ever deals. He cost the Blues just £32m when they signed him from Lille in 2012.

During his time at Stamford Bridge, the retired forward won two Premier League titles, two Europa League trophies and a couple of domestic cups. He was worth every penny and then some.

Eden Hazard and Mohamed Salah’s Premier League stats compared

Out of the two, Hazard may be the more enjoyable player to watch. Even on a bad day, the former Belgium international could dribble past anyone.

However, in front of goal, there is no denying that Salah is the more efficient forward. The numbers back him up.

In the English top flight, the Egyptian star also has a higher win percentage. So numbers-wise, Salah comes out on top.

Chelsea fans will argue, though, that Salah played in a team that had better forwards than the Blues did.

The fact that the former AS Roma man did play alongside Sadio Mano and Roberto Firmino, who could both score and create goals, cannot be overlooked. So Chelsea supporters may very well have a point. Swap the two, and it would be interesting to see how different their numbers would be.
