Pop superstar Elton John has now claimed that he is a huge fan of Chelsea star Cole Palmer.

He told BBC Sport that he is really happy to say the 21-year-old getting an opportunity after moving away from Manchester City over the summer.

Palmer completed a £45m move on deadline day to Stamford Bridge, with the deal coming seemingly out of nowhere.

His impact has been tremendous on his new team though, with him arguably being one of the players of the season so far for the club.

He has scored four goals already, with three of them coming against Arsenal, Tottenham and City.

The penalty in added time against his former side was a showcase of just how much confidence he has at the age of 21, and this was soon rewarded with a call up to the England squad.

He made his debut over the recent international break, and didn’t take long to show his talents for his country too.

John is one of those who has been impressed by his decision to make the move to Chelsea, and is delighted to see it seem to succeed.

He said: “Players get left out of clubs. I’m so glad Cole Palmer is in the England squad. It’s like – this boy is only going to learn by playing with the better players. He’s a good player anyway, a very good player. Play him! If he’s good enough, play him. How’s he going to learn if he doesn’t learn?”

Palmer is almost certainly going to be one of the first names on the teamsheet when the Blues get back into action in the Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino is preparing his side to face Newcastle United, with a chance to climb up the table towards the European places.
