Journalist Luke Edwards has claimed that one club will find it very difficult to keep hold of their Chelsea transfer target when the season is over.

He told the ‘Transfer Gossip Daily’ podcast that Crystal Palace supporters should enjoy watching winger Michael Olise while they can during this campaign.

Olise was very close to joining Chelsea during the previous summer transfer window, as they considered activating his release clause.

However, threats of how they approached the deal saw the interest cool off, and the Frenchman sign a new contract at Selhurst Park.

The Blues eventually went on to sign Cole Palmer, who has so far gone on to lead the side in both goals and assists.

However, there are still reports that Olise could be of interest again to the Blues, with Edwards now stating their best chance to sign him will come at the end of the season.

Olise expected to leave in summer

He said: “I expect that fight to come in the summer, but my advice to Crystal Palace fans unfortunately would be to enjoy him while you can.

“Because if he doesn’t go this month, and I don’t think he’ll go this month, I think Palace can fight off any suitors this month, but when that release clause becomes active there’s very little they can do.

“And then it’s just going to be a case of a very talented young footballer deciding where he wants to go, could have be Manchester City, could it be Chelsea, could it be Arsenal, could it be Manchester United, I don’t know.”

It was reported yesterday that new Manchester United chief Jim Ratcliffe was keen to make Olise his first big addition at Old Trafford, suggesting the Blues will not have an easy path to the addition if they want it again this summer.
