Chelsea made a huge effort in the previous transfer window to make one signing which would have completely changed the way they operated this season.

The Blues were reportedly interested in signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli, with them making efforts all the way up until the deadline.

However, Chelsea walked away after making their best offer for Osimhen with hours to go, and instead put their faith in Nicolas Jackson.

Victor Osimhen wants move to Manchester United instead of Chelsea

Enzo Maresca has been largely repaid by the Senegal international, however their have been moments where they have been crying out for another option to provide the goals.

Osimhen has enjoyed a prolific start to life in Turkey after he moved on loan to Galatasaray, with his time at the Serie A leaders seeming to have come to an end.

With him expected to move permanently at the end of the season somewhere, Chelsea have remained in the conversation as a potential home for him.

However, according to Business Day, the forward is determined to secure a move to Premier League rivals Manchester United instead.

Ruben Amorim’s side have been crying out for a prolific goalscorer all season, and signing the Nigerian international would certainly boost their quality up top.

Who could Chelsea sign instead of Victor Osimhen?

Chelsea have been linked to a number of strikers to strengthen their depth up front either this month or at the end of the season.

They are reportedly very keen on signing Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, with him being the top scoring English striker in the Premier League this season.

Maresca recently described Delap as a ‘fantastic’ player, and has experience working with him as a youngster during their respective times at Manchester City.

They will also no doubt be keeping an eye on free-scoring Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak, however they represent high-profile signings whose pricetags will match that.
