Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy has played down fears that the Blues will struggle at the back this season.
The 30-year-old told The Telegraph that he is not worried by the defensive exodus the club has seen this summer.
Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger have already left the club on free transfers, joining La Liga heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively.
The pair could soon be joined by Cesar Azpilicueta, who is reportedly close to leaving the club and joining the Denmark international at the Catalan club.
While reports have swirled that the club are interested in a number of reinforcements, they are yet to announce any new signings as they begin their pre-season tour of the United States.
While supporters may be worried, the player who requires the most confidence in his defence, Mendy, has claimed he believes things will end up being just fine.
Mendy not worried about defence
He said: “We just need time. It is like this every year when you change clubs and new players come. We just need time to learn from each other and we are starting the new season.
“We have players here, so we will work with the players who are present with us today and let’s see what will happen.”
Mendy could be looking forward to a reunion with international teammate Kalidou Koulibaly, with the Napoli man one of a number of players linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
Nathan Ake is another name strongly rumoured to be under consideration, with Chelsea expected to make a bid after finalising a deal with Manchester City for Raheem Sterling.
Ake would be a direct replacement for Rudiger, with his ability to naturally play on the left of a defence key in the clubs thinking.
The pair could be great additions to the squad, with both gaining plenty of experience at the top of the game. With players like Levi Colwill looking to break through, bringing players with the appropriate skills to learn from should also be seen as an essential.
