Chelsea’s Estevao Willian continued his incredible rise by earning his fourth senior cap for Brazil’s national side this week.
Brazil recorded a 1-1 draw overnight at home to Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier, with Chelsea youngster Estevao Willian enjoying a late cameo appearance as a substitute in the second-half.
Estevao, who’s still only aged 17, is currently starring in club football with Brazilian giants Palmeiras. It’s already been confirmed that he’ll be moving to Stamford Bridge next summer to become a Chelsea player, though.
The teenage attacker has 14 goals and nine assists in 42 first-team appearances for Palmeiras, which has helped catapult him into Brazil’s squad in 2024.
Chelsea believe they’ve hit the jackpot with Estevao, along with another young investment, Kendry Paez.

What Brazil fans were chanting about Estevao Willian
Yet again, Estevao was named on the bench for Brazil during their latest World Cup qualifier.
Globo reports that Brazilian supporters in the crowd were urging international manager Dorival Junior to use the Chelsea prospect as a substitute against Uruguay. Apparently, the fans were clearly asking to see Estevao in action with loud chants: “Estevao, Estevao, Estevao!”.
Eventually, the 17-year-old winger replaced Manchester City’s Savinho in the Brazil XI for the final 17 minutes.
For a youngster to receive such support from the Brazilian audience, is a testament to his quality and potential.
Paris Saint-Germain tried to sign Estevao before he agreed to join Chelsea, which is now looking like a masterstroke from the Blues in the summer.
Estevao Willian vs Uruguay
Estevao didn’t have much time on the pitch to show what he can do on the international stage. However, there’s surely going to be plenty more opportunities for him further down the line to impress.
Here is a look at the right-winger’s statistics in his short cameo against Uruguay via Fotmob:

- Shots on target – 0/1 (0%)
- Accurate passes – 7/9 (78%)

Estevao wants to play as a No.10 when he joins Chelsea, but there’s already a fascinating ongoing at battle at Stamford Bridge between Cole Palmer and Joao Felix for that central position.
It remains to be seen how quickly the Brazilian sensation will be able to adapt to English football. Regardless, there excitement continues to build ahead of his arrival next year.
