What Chelsea are planning to do with Estevao Willian before he actually joins them

Palmeiras winger Estevao Willian is not set to officially join Chelsea until 2025, when he turns 18.

Chelsea agreed a deal with Palmeiras during the summer transfer window to sign Estevao Willian, but his current age prevented the Brazilian from linking up with the Blues this season.

Being 17 has not stopped Estevao from making his Brazil debut, though. He won his first senior cap earlier after coming on in the Selecao’s 1-0 win against Ecuador.

Real Madrid star Rodrygo has since promised to help Estevao, hoping to pass on some of his experience to the youngster.

Estevao Willian set for Chelsea visit

Again, Estevao will not officially become a Chelsea player until next summer. However, that does not mean he will not get to see the club’s Cobham training ground and meet his future teammates before then.

According to Brazilian outlet Nosso Palestra, Chelsea plan to bring Estevao over during his holidays to see the club’s facilities.

If the Brazil international can become familiar with Cobham now, it may make it easier for him to settle in once he makes the move from Palmeiras to Chelsea.

Estevao is regarded as a “generational talent”, so Chelsea have to do everything they can to help him live up to that kind of reputation.

Estevao Willian’s future rival at Chelsea

For Palmeiras, Estevao has been playing on the right flank, meaning that if he stays with Enzo Maresca‘s first-team squad next season, he could be going up against Noni Madueke for a starting spot.

That is Madueke’s best position and where he has thrived this term, with the 22-year-old scoring a hat-trick in Chelsea’s 6-2 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Maresca is getting a lot out of him in this early part of the season, but Madueke says Mauricio Pochettino also helped him to mature.

As well as Madueke, Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto can also play on the right, so there could be a lot of competition for the right-wing spot in the 2025/26 campaign.
