They have been without club captain Reece James on the pitch for the majority of the season, and could be set for a longer spell on the sidelines again after picking up another issue in training.
While there have been no reports that Maresca is looking to change his first team captain option, there have to be thoughts about having a recognised leader on the pitch for the majority of games.
Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Levi Colwill have all donned the armband in the right-back’s absence, and have put in a case the be given the role on a full-term basis.
