‘Great’ Chelsea player just proved Todd Boehly right with his performance against Leicester

The Chelsea squad looks completely unrecognisable right now versus a couple of years ago, and this is down to the transfer activity under the new owners.

Some transfer windows have been better than others for the Blues since Todd Boehly and co took over the running of proceedings.

The good news for Chelsea fans is that these windows are being looked back on more fondly now than they were at the start of his rein, showing clear improvement in their recruitment policy.

There have already been reports that a number of the players signed since the American has been in charge are on the chopping block after not proving themselves as a guaranteed starter since joining.

One player who has not been starting regularly in the Premier League is Benoit Badiashile, however if you believe what the club are saying Badiashile is certainly not for sale.

Benoit Badiashile proves Todd Boehly’s backing was right

Fans have not been particularly impressed by the Frenchman this season, however he certainly took his chance at the weekend when he was called upon to start against Leicester.

With Malo Gusto and Reece James not fit, Wesley Fofana made the shift to right-back against his former side, and it was the former Monaco man who was preferred to Tosin Adarabioyo and Axel Disasi to come into the side.

Badiashile impressed greatly against the Foxes, and will feel hard done by to not be walking away with a clean sheet after they conceded a late penalty.

Chelsea insist Badiashile is a key player

It is now perhaps unlikely that he is a guaranteed starter when the Blues return to Conference League action later this week.

This is actually a good sign in terms of how Enzo Maresca sees him, with it now pretty clear that he is the third choice centre-back behind Fofana and Levi Colwill.

Reports are insistent that Chelsea see Badiashile as a crucial member of the squad going forwards, and his performance at the weekend proved why they are thinking that way.
