Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer has been a revelation for the Blues since joining them from Manchester City in the summer.

However, there was one moment in Chelsea‘s Carabao Cup tie with Newcastle United last night where Mauricio Pochettino was absolutely furious with Cole Palmer.

According to a report from football.london, after the 21-year-old took a long shot that Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka was easily able to deal with in the first half, Pochettino turned towards his bench and kicked the air with a very frustrated face.

With Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling both in space, it is clear that the Argentine wanted Palmer to pass the ball instead.

Chelsea managed to get the job done in the end, though, knocking the Magpies out on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time.

Cole Palmer still in Mauricio Pochettino’s good books

Palmer scored his penalty to help Chelsea reach the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup and has been incredible for the Blues this season.

In the Premier League, the England international has scored six goals and provided three assists in 14 appearances under Pochettino.

The 51-year-old has to love him at this moment in time. Without Palmer, Chelsea would undoubtedly be in the bottom half of the table.

Not all of Chelsea’s transfer business has been great lately, but Palmer has certainly been an exceptional signing, with Gus Poyet recently hailing the impact he has made at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues need more additions like the former City man. If they can find more gems like him the next time they enter the transfer market, then it could help the club return to the top again.

And with January nearly here, Pochettino will soon have the opportunity to improve his Chelsea side, who have really struggled in the English top flight this season.
