On top of the current stars in the Chelsea squad, the club also has several exciting youngsters developing out on loan this season.

Chelsea have been huge winners in the past from using the loan market. For example, Blues stars Reece James and Levi Colwill previously developed out on loan earlier in their careers.

Interestingly, Chelsea are planning to loan out Omari Kellyman in January.

Chelsea hierarchy think Andrey Santos has a huge future with them

According to respected journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea believe that Andrey Santos can be a key player for them in the future.

The 20-year-old Blues midfielder, who’s currently on loan with French top-flight club Strasbourg, is due to return to Stamford Bridge next summer.

“But internally at Chelsea, including Maresca, the directors and the owners and all the people at the club believe that Andrey Santos will absolutely be an important part of the Chelsea project,” Romano said on his YouTube channel.

“They had the possibility to sell the player last summer, Chelsea said no. They always wanted to have Andrey Santos as part of the project.”

Maresca admitted yesterday Santos could be an option for Chelsea further down the line once his loan has finished with Strasbourg.

So far, the Brazilian central midfielder has five goals in eight Ligue 1 appearances this season.

Competition in the Chelsea midfield

If Santos wants to break into Chelsea’s first-team squad next season, he could have a big job on his hands.

The South American youngster is excelling as an all-action midfielder with Strasbourg, but the competition for places is tough in west London.

Here is a look at Chelsea’s central midfielders this season:
