What Manchester United told pundits to stop doing during Jadon Sancho’s Borussia Dortmund loan

A truly embarrassing story about Manchester United and Jadon Sancho, who is currently on loan at Chelsea, has emerged.

Chelsea signed Jadon Sancho from Manchester United on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the last transfer window.

However, before then, the winger spent some time at former club Borussia Dortmund on another loan.

Sancho hasn’t played in Chelsea’s last two games because of “tactical” reasons, Enzo Maresca has claimed.

Manchester United’s message to pundits during Jadon Sancho’s Borussia Dortmund loan

Sancho had a difficult time at United, especially during the 2023/24 season. He had a public fall out with Ten Hag before being shipped off to Dortmund on loan.

There, however, the 24-year-old managed to thrive. He helped the German club to make it all the way to the Champions League final.

It clearly left United a little red-faced, with ESPN claiming that club representatives sent messages to “high-profile” pundits telling them to stop praising Sancho’s impact at Dortmund because it reflected badly on them.

Sancho has also come in for praise since joining Chelsea, with his own manager talking him up. “He is a special player,” Maresca said when asked about Sancho earlier this month.

Manchester United could regret Jadon Sancho deal

Unless Chelsea finish below 14th, there is no chance of Sancho returning to Old Trafford.

Sancho’s move to Stamford Bridge will become permanent if the Blues finish 14th or higher, which is basically a guarantee.

Ruben Amorim, who is expected to take charge of United, may have had room for Sancho. A lot of managers probably would for a wide man of his talent. But the kind of deal that United agreed with their Premier League rivals means the England international will not be an option for the Portuguese.

With Sancho having only joined Chelsea on an initial loan, he is ineligible to play against United this weekend. Pedro Neto is likely to keep his spot in the team as a result.
