Sky Sports journalist Gary Cotterill has claimed that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino turned up to Stamford Bridge more than four hours before kick-off last night.
He told Football Daily that the manager and his coaching staff were in attendance extremely early yesterday, as they hatched a plan to get back to winning ways.
This week has seen the first murmurs of discontent around the Chelsea fanbase at the start they have made to the season with Pochettino at the helm.
Whilst results have not been there, the underlying numbers have suggested they are playing well, and just require a more clinical edge up front.
This is easier said than done however, and a lot of the brunt has been taken by Nicolas Jackson after he’s started every game up front so far this season.
Pochettino arrived very early yesterday
However, he looked to right a few of those wrongs last night, as he struck the only goal of the evening to defeat a strong Brighton side in the EFL Cup.
This performance will no doubt have impressed the manager, with teammates also flocking to social media to praise the 22-year-old.
Pochettino will be delighted their preparation came to fruition, with Cotterill claiming that he arrived very early in West London yesterday.
He said: “Well Mauricio Pochettino is already here at the stadium. He arrived bright and early with his coaching staff. We saw him arrive at about half past three this afternoon, so more than four hours ahead of kick-off in what is turning out to be a vital game for Chelsea.”
Chelsea will look to go one better and get back to winning ways in the league on Monday night when they take on West London rivals Fulham.
