Despite arriving at Chelsea in the summer with inexperience at the top level, Enzo Maresca has made quite an impressive start to life as the club’s head coach.
Enzo Maresca, 44, was appointed in the summer as the Chelsea manager and the successor to Mauricio Pochettino.
In terms of his managerial career, it’s still in its early stages. The Italian’s worked as an assistant at the likes of Manchester City, West Ham and Sevilla, but the Chelsea job is only his third spell as a first-team boss.
Maresca only lasted 14 games as Parma manager, while he spent the 2023/24 season in charge of Leicester City before leaving them in the summer to take charge at Stamford Bridge. In fairness, Leicester did end up winning the Championship title and securing promotion back to the Premier League.
It’s been a positive opening few months to this season from Chelsea, and Maresca has earned praise from Wright for his work. Next, the Blues travel to the King Power Stadium this weekend to face Leicester.

What sources are saying about Enzo Maresca’s future at Chelsea
According to iNews, there’s already a general feeling at Stamford Bridge that Maresca could be the long-term solution in the manager’s dugout.
The report claims that after speaking to multiple Chelsea sources in the last couple of weeks, there is a sense that Maresca could stay in his role as the head coach into the next decade.
When the 44-year-old coach signed as the new Chelsea boss in the summer, he agreed a five-year contract, with a club option of a further year. It seems rare in the modern era that managers stay in one place for an extended period, but it would be great to see that happen in west London.
Of course, it’s still so early into Maresca’s reign and things can change very quickly with a few bad results on the spin.
Paul Scholes admitted he wrongly doubted Maresca’s Chelsea appointment because he expected him to really struggle. Instead, he’s surprised so many pundits and supporters with his impact.
Chelsea owners yet to show patience with any manager
The Chelsea owners that purchased the club back in May 2022 have shown zero patience during over two years at the helm. However, can Maresca be the man to end the run of constant change?
Here is a look at the managers to work for the Blues during this ownership:
| Name | From | To |
| Thomas Tuchel | January 2021 | September 2022 |
| Graham Potter | September 2022 | April 2023 |
| Bruno Saltor (interim) | April 2023 | April 2023 |
| Frank Lampard (interim) | April 2023 | June 2023 |
| Mauricio Pochettino | July 2023 | May 2024 |
| Enzo Maresca | July 2024 | Present |
It’s now up to Maresca and his players to build on this platform they’ve created to enjoy a successful 2024/25 season. If they continue in this way, the supporters will stay right behind the head coach.
