Raheem Sterling played the villain in Newcastle United’s 4-1 win against Chelsea at St James’ Park yesterday.
Eddie Howe’s side managed to come out as comfortable victors in their encounter with Chelsea, but Newcastle supporters were not always happy during the match and seemed to be disgruntled with Raheem Sterling.
The winger was substituted for Noni Madueke in the second half and was booed off by the home fans.
Sterling won a free-kick that he scored from and perhaps the Newcastle supporters felt he was going down a bit too easily on the day.
There were instances during the game when Sterling did go to the ground but nothing was given.
He was one of Chelsea’s better players and his goal was sublime, but it proved futile in the end.
Raheem Sterling one of few positives
Mauricio Pochettino would not have had much to smile about after that embarrassing 4-1 defeat at St James’ Park.
However, Sterling was one positive, with the 28-year-old probably one of the most in-form wingers in the Premier League right now.
His goal against the Magpies was his fifth in the top flight this season. Last term, he only scored six, showing just how much he has improved since then.

Sterling is not just scoring goals again, though. He is also running at defenders and causing them real problems.
According to WhoScored, the England international is completing 2.4 dribbles per game, which is the highest average in Chelsea’s squad.
Since the 2009/10 Premier League season, Sterling has some of the best dribbling stats recorded. When the former Manchester City star is at it, he is such a dangerous player and that is exactly what he has been for Chelsea this term.
He is doing his part. It is now time for his team-mates to start doing theirs.
