While Chelsea will not be over the moon with a draw at home against Nottingham Forest, they have one man to thank for pulling them back into the game at all.

Noni Madueke had some doubters to prove wrong yesterday, with him not finding the net since his hat-trick against Wolves.

However, he was on target to level the game at Stamford Bridge, seeming to send a message to Enzo Maresca in his celebrations.

Madueke was the clear bright spark for Chelsea on a frustrating afternoon, where they will feel as if they did enough to take all three points and go into the international break just two points off the top.

The Englishman was a frequent threat, registering the most efforts on goal for the Blues.

Madueke registers most touches in opposing box this season

This was not the only statistic where he sat at the top. He registered 20 touches in Forest’s penalty area.

According to WhoScored, this is actually the most of any player in the Premier League this season.

It is a story of the Blues’ dominance of the meeting, and why there should not be an overreaction over the fact that they were unable to make it six wins in a row in all competitions.

It only takes looking back at the 1-0 home defeat in this exact fixture last season to see the strides being taken by the side under Maresca, and why there is a lot more confidence over what is happening at the club right now.

Madueke called up to England squad

Madueke will be hoping to add to his debut assist for England after again being called up to the national team for the current international break.

He will be joining Levi Colwill and Cole Palmer for the Three Lions in a very strong Chelsea core.
