Jadon Sancho to Chelsea is getting closer and closer, with Enzo Maresca seemingly very keen on the English winger.
In what has been a ludicrous transfer window for Chelsea, it appears on deadline day that the Blues are not done yet.
Enzo Maresca is still exploring two potential deals. Victor Osimhen could still arrive from Napoli, and Jadon Sancho is speculated to move from Manchester United.
The latter in Sancho has endured a tough time since his move to the Premier League – finding it almost impossible to replicate the dazzling form he endured for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.
Could he do so at Chelsea? Well, that remains to be seen – but some positive predecessors from Sancho indicate the move could be a match made in heaven.

Jadon Sancho says childhood heroes are Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba
A switch to Chelsea may be appealing the the former England international – given the fact he is a boyhood Blues fan.
Whilst at Dortmund, Sancho revealed he grew up watching the Stamford Bridge outfit, and he used to look up to Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba as role models in his youth.
When asked about his childhood heroes, Sancho told talkSPORT: “I’d probably say Frank Lampard. I was a Chelsea fan growing up, I can’t lie!
“Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard were my favourite players at the time. I just love Frank Lampard and how he played his game; he was so direct and so composed on the ball. I like things like that.”
Sancho idolised these Chelsea legends – so now could he follow in their footsteps?
Why does Enzo Maresca want Jadon Sancho?
So as Sancho is keen for the Chelsea move – why is Maresca? Well, the pair have a history.
The new Chelsea manager worked with Sancho some time ago, back when both were part of the Manchester City academy.
This is when Sancho was absolutely thriving, and emerging as one of the world’s hottest talents – which is what Chelsea will be looking to replicate.
Speaking on Sancho in Wednesday’s press conference, Maresca had the following to say about the 24-year-old. “If we have to sign a player just for signing, I don’t want it,” the Chelsea head coach said.
“But if we can sign a player who can help us, for sure I want it. I know Jadon very well from many years with [Manchester] City. I know him very well. But he is not our player. We will see what happens.”
Will Sancho be a Chelsea player by the end of the window? Let’s see. Tick tock.
