Chelsea are exploring any late avenues that may emerge as they look to fine tune their squad for the rest of the season.

Exits feel more likely with such little time left of the January transfer window, with some players surely desperate for regular first team opportunties after not getting them so far under Enzo Maresca.

As the saga surrounding Joao Felix looks like it could go on all the way until the deadline, it is believed that Christopher Nkunku will stay at Stamford Bridge this season.

Aaron Anselmino to stay at Chelsea on deadline day

It had been reported that the Frenchman had agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich, however there was never any agreement between the two clubs over a deal.

Another player who looks as if he could be staying put now is Aaron Anselmino, who has returned from his spell at Boca Juniors early to train with the first team squad.

It had been reported that Marseille were closing in on a loan for Anselmino, with him having an opportunity to feature under Roberto de Zerbi.

However, journalist Eduardo Burgos has stated that his immediate future will remain at the club, and people close to Anselmino have denied reports suggesting he could move to Ligue 1.

He said: “Aaron Anselmino will stay in London. The player’s entourage denies contacts with Marseille. They suggest that he will not leave.”

With a move away now not on the cards, the question is now whether the Argentinian can play a role at Stamford Bridge this season.

Enzo Maresca has hinted it is too early for Anselmino to be in the conversation for minutes at Chelsea, even though there are high hopes for his future in West London.

The Athletic have claimed that Maresca wanted Anselmino to stay, suggesting those plans could be about to change.

Injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile, plus a possible deadline day exit for Axel Disasi, options could soon become limited, and the youngster could be moved into the side ahead of schedule.
