‘You can imagine’… TalkSPORT pundit thinks 22-year-old Chelsea player may eventually come good

Andy Jacobs has shared that Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk is a player that can really frustrate him.

It wouldn’t surprise him if the 22-year-old does eventually come good in Chelsea colours, though.

Mykhailo Mudryk, who’s a skilful left-winger, is getting plenty of opportunities this season in Mauricio Pochettino’s line-up.

He’s returned just two goals and two assists in 16 Blues appearances so far this campaign.

We’d certainly like to see far more end product from a player that can go past an opponent like they’re not even there.

TalkSPORT pundit Andy Jacobs admits he was left frustrated after watching Mudryk in Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Sheffield United at the weekend. He’s opted for a positive outlook on the Ukrainian youngster, though.

“There was one moment [against Sheffield United] that said everything about Mudryk at the moment. He brought the ball down, nutmegged one player, went past another, then he took a shot and it nearly hit the corner flag. Someone made the point that Salah was like this when he was at Chelsea,” Jacobs told talkSPORT (1:51pm, 18 December).

“There’s something in this player. You can imagine in six years time he’s going to be one of the best players in the world. I think there’s a player in there, but sometimes he is a bit frustrating.”

Mykhailo Mudryk can come good

Ben Jacobs reported via Substack earlier this month that Pochettino has been working one-on-one with Mudryk to try help improve him.

There’s so many great individual skills in the winger’s armoury, so hopefully he can unleash that with more experience and time.

Let’s remember that he only came to Chelsea with 44 first-team games for Shakhtar Donetsk under his belt.

We’re very much in the camp that the 22-year-old’s got to do more with the opportunities he’s getting, but it’s not time to give up on him yet.
