‘Unpredictable’: BBC pundit says player Chelsea could reportedly try to sign was practically unstoppable at the weekend

BBC Sport’s Garth Crooks has heaped praise on Chelsea target Wilfried Zaha following his latest Premier League performance.

It has always been a bit of a mystery as to why no top side has signed him over the last few years, with him beginning this campaign seemingly with the mind-set of proving people wrong.

He followed up his fantastic goal against Liverpool last week with a brace to help his side pick up their first win of the season against Aston Villa.

The Crystal Palace man has never featured in Europe, with him spending almost all of his playing career with the Eagles.

However, Crooks believes he certainly has the ability to step up and play for a European standard side.

Zaha described as unplayable

He said: “I thought Zaha took his goal extremely well against Liverpool at Anfield in midweek and really should have gone on to win the game for Crystal Palace based on the chances he had. However, against Aston Villa this unpredictable and impulsive talent tore the visitors to shreds. When Zaha is in this mood there is very little a team can do to stop him.

“I think the problem for Patrick Vieira, and the reason the Ivorian has not moved to a top four club is that the player doesn’t do what he does best often enough. Personally, I would like to see Zaha playing European football and put his talents really to the test. It would be nice to know how good this lad really is.”

The Blues have been linked with the Ivory Coast international as they look to add the final touches to what has been a fruitful transfer window.

A winger is particularly something they seem keen on, with their being links to Anthony Gordon and Rafael Leao as well.

With Zaha being Premier League proven, he could prove the intelligent choice if Palace can be convinced to make a sale.
