Joao Felix now wants to terminate his contract with Atlético Madrid – just weeks after he left Chelsea.

That is according to La Sexta.

So, what is the latest on Joao Felix after he left Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Portugal international officially left Stamford Bridge at the start of July when his loan spell from Atlético Madrid came to an end.

According to Marca in Spain, Mauricio Pochettino told Todd Boehly during negotiations to take over at Stamford Bridge that he did not want to sign Felix permanently.

To our surprise, the 23-year-old has struggled to find a new club despite showing glimpses of brilliance at Chelsea, and things are now turning toxic at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Felix was recently booed by Atlético Madrid fans during Monday’s 3-1 win over Granada, despite the fact he was only sitting on the bench.

Supporters have turned against the Portuguese forward after he expressed a desire to join rivals Barcelona – which then led to his plaque outside of the Wanda Metropolitano getting vandalised.

Now – according to La Sexta – Felix and his representatives are exploring the possibility of terminating his contract, having grown tired of the situation in Spain.

Chelsea must consider Joao Felix if he becomes a free agent

We understood why Chelsea did not want to sign Felix permanently, as that deal would have been a rather expensive package.

Atlético Madrid want to make back a large chunk of their initial £113m investment to sell Felix on a permanent basis – according to the Chronicle, the Spanish giants even want £11m just to loan him.

However, if the Viseu-born forward does become available for free, Chelsea would be foolish not to act, especially after losing Christopher Nkunku to a serious knee injury.

Be sure to keep an eye on Felix’s situation, as it seems he may soon become available for nothing if he gets his way.
