24-year-old Chelsea player will not let the club force him out this month

One Chelsea player looks like he could be staying at Stamford Bridge despite loads of exit rumours.

Trevoh Chalobah has been heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea for a while now.

However, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, the central defender will not let the club force him out this month and will only leave for the right team. “The player himself is content to sit tight,” Jacobs claimed on Substack.

Chalobah is yet to play a game for Chelsea this season, though he has been injured.

When the 24-year-old returns to full fitness, if he is still at Stamford Bridge, he faces a tough task breaking into Mauricio Pochettino‘s starting XI. Thiago Silva and Axel Disasi are just a couple of names Chalobah will have to compete with for a spot.

Trevoh Chalobah content to stay at Chelsea until the summer

So it appears that Chalobah will not let Chelsea force him out of Stamford Bridge.

It is understandable if the former England U21 international wants to be patient and wait for the right move.

However, leaving the Blues, even if it is just on loan, still looks to be what is best for Chalobah. Again, it is just hard to see how he is going to get game time this season.

Chalobah has already missed half of the campaign because of injury. Does he want to spend the second part of it sitting on the bench? If he stays at Chelsea, that will probably end up being the case.

That being said, Pochettino has had a lot of problems in defence this term. Any more, and perhaps Chalobah could find a pathway into the team.

If the centre-back wants minutes, though, the safer thing for him to do is join another club before the transfer window shuts.
