Chelsea are being linked with Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson.

Chelsea signed Moises Caicedo from Brighton last summer and are now interested in another one of their players, Evan Ferguson, according to the Evening Standard.

Mauricio Pochettino was asked about the club’s interest in the 19-year-old after his side’s 1-0 win against Fulham yesterday and the Argentine responded. He spoke to football.london and other outlets during his post-match press conference.

Chelsea were able to beat Fulham thanks to a penalty won by Raheem Sterling.

Pochettino praised the England international for winning it and Cole Palmer for doing his job from the spot.

Mauricio Pochettino coy on Evan Ferguson

Pochettino was quick to remind reporters that he does not talk about players from other clubs when he was asked about Ferguson.

“You know very well I don’t talk about rumours or players that are in a different club,” the Chelsea boss said. “I am so respectful. We are not talking. We are assessing the squad and if something happens we will communicate that to you. At the moment we didn’t take any decision.”

Should Chelsea sign Evan Ferguson in the summer?

Ideally, if you are a Chelsea supporter, you want the club to sign an experienced and proven No.9 like Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

However, if that is not possible, then Ferguson could be a good alternative, depending on how he finishes this season.

The Republic of Ireland international looks like a Premier League centre-forward. He is not the smallest striker, for example, standing at 6 ft 0. And his record of six goals in 18 appearances is not bad for someone his age.

If Ferguson can finish the campaign on double digits, he could be an option worth considering. As of now, though, he may not have done enough to warrant Chelsea spending crazy money on him.
