Barcelona may be interested in signing Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen.
That is according to a report from Spanish publication Sport.
They claim that Barcelona are considering the idea of signing Ian Maatsen next summer once his Chelsea contract expires.
It is understood that the La Liga champions are already planning the signing of a new left-back, with the 21-year-old Blues star on their radar.
The report adds that Barca have been following Maatsen for years due to his offensive qualities from full-back, which he showed very effectively during last season’s loan spell at Burnley.

Maatsen’s a first-team player at Stamford Bridge this season and getting minutes under Mauricio Pochettino, but he’s in the final year of his contract.
The Telegraph claimed last month that Chelsea may be forced into selling Maatsen in the January transfer window if they make no progress during contract negotiations. They added that Blues head coach Pochettino has been impressed by the Dutch youngster, but his future in West London is unclear right now.
With Barcelona’s name now mentioned in the transfer rumour mill, it’ll be intriguing to see what happens with Maatsen.

Chelsea are using Maatsen as a versatile attacker so far this campaign who can play as a winger or a No 10. However, the best football of his career so far has been at left-back.
If there’s no immediate path into the Blues XI, we don’t blame Maatsen for being hesitant over a new deal.
The temptation to complete a glamorous move to the Camp Nou next year to play in Barcelona colours would be enough to excite most players in the game.
