Benfica’s pursuit of Chelsea forward Joao Felix during this transfer window has become a bit of a game.

The Portuguese outfit are interested in re-signing the 25-year-old from the Club World Cup winners.

However, as of now, Chelsea are blocking Felix’s return to Benfica, with the Blues not satisfied with the amount of money that they are being offered.

If Chelsea really want to offload Felix, though, they may have to compromise at some point.

Benfica think they could become Joao Felix’s only possible destination this summer

Felix is also attracting interest from Saudi Arabia, but Chelsea are yet to receive any offers from the Saudi Pro League.

With no Saudi Arabian clubs making a move for Felix yet, according to The Sun, Benfica believe they could become the Portugal international’s only option.

As a result, they are in no rush to pay his asking price and are prepared to wait, which could force Chelsea to lower it.

While little progress is being made with Felix, Chelsea are having a bit more success with finding the right buyer for Renato Veiga.

Atletico Madrid are close to signing Veiga from their English counterparts, who have no issues with offloading him in this transfer window.

How much Chelsea want for Joao Felix

The Sun’s report states that Chelsea are demanding £35m for Felix, a fee Benfica are unwilling to meet.

Elsewhere, it has been claimed that Chelsea want as much as £43m for Felix, which is roughly what they paid for the former Atletico star.

Felix has done very little since coming back to Stamford Bridge and the whole of Europe has seen his struggles there and at AC Milan and Atletico.

The kind of money that Chelsea are asking for, no one is going to pay it. A club from Saudi Arabia could, but until they come to the table, Benfica do look like his only option.

Considering that, it makes complete sense for them to wait around and not pay their ex-player’s current price tag.
