Brighton & Hove Albion look determined not to lose another transfer battle to Premier League rivals Chelsea this summer.
Brighton have already watched Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who was a key target for the club, join Chelsea.
It leaves the Seagulls still needing another midfielder, and they are now interested in signing someone who, once again, also happens to be on Chelsea’s radar.
It has been claimed, though, that Chelsea won’t sign another midfielder to replace the outgoing Conor Gallagher.
Gallagher, now into the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, is close to joining Atletico Madrid.

Brighton & Hove Albion in talks to sign Celtic’s Matt O’Riley
It makes sense that Chelsea are not going all out for another midfielder; they have just signed Dewsbury-Hall.
The 25-year-old is a box-to-box midfielder like Gallagher, and Dewsbury-Hall already has Chelsea fans applauding him after his unofficial debut against Club America.
That should make Brighton’s life much easier as they look to bring O’Riley to the Amex Stadium before the transfer market shuts.
According to Sky Sports, Brighton are in talks with Celtic over a deal for the Denmark international.
A report from AS back in June when Atletico were keeping an eye on him claimed that Celtic valued their midfielder at €40m (£34.3m).
Chelsea can afford to let Matt O’Riley join Brighton & Hove Albion
Chelsea really do not need to get into another transfer battle with Brighton and Fabian Hurzeler over O’Riley.
Because they have Dewsbury-Hall, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, Enzo Maresca will survive without the 23-year-old.
What Chelsea need to be focusing on is bringing in another centre-forward, which they appear to be doing.
Samu Omorodion remains high on Chelsea’s list, and you would expect the Atletico Madrid man or another No.9 to come in before the Blues even give consideration to signing a new midfielder.
It is not needed, but when Chelsea sense a good opportunity, they do normally strike. So supporters will have to wait and see what happens with this one.
