Chelsea’s attacking transfer target is reportedly expected to be sold at the end of the season in the next summer window.

Even though a lot of investment has gone into assembling the Chelsea squad in recent years, they do still have some weak areas.

Enzo Maresca is discussing potential Chelsea transfers with the club’s hierarchy as they look ahead to the future together. If they can strengthen the spine of the team with a bit more experience, we’re optimistic big things can happen.

Borussia Dortmund expects to sell Chelsea target Jamie Gittens

Borussia Dortmund attacker Jamie Gittens, 20, has been linked with a potential move to Stamford Bridge in the transfer rumour mill.

Chelsea laid the groundwork to sign Gittens by holding discussions about the Bundesliga winger in January. Fresh rumours explain they’ll face a real battle to win the race for the Englishman’s signature, though.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Dortmund do expect to sell Gittens in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Apparently, the 20-year-old wide man is attracting interest from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Bayern Munich. Interestingly, his ‘dream destination’ is to end up playing in the Premier League.

The report explains that the internal belief at Dortmund is they’ll sell the highly-rated youngster at the end of the season. Even though they dream of a transfer sum worth around €100m (£83m), the actual fee could be between €60m (£50m) to €70m (£58m) if Dortmund miss out on Champions League qualification.

Dortmund may still be competing in this season’s version of the Champions League, but they risk missing out on next season’s tournament because they sit 10th in the Bundesliga right now.

Jamie Gittens on much worse goal drought than Cole Palmer

Overall, Gittens is enjoying a very impressive campaign so far at Dortmund. Emre Can described the English youngster as “incredible” back in September 2024 via Daily Record.

He’s scored 11 goals and created four assists in 36 appearances across all competitions this season.

However, Gittens is on a current goal drought, similar to Chelsea talisman Cole Palmer.

If a player of Palmer’s ability and confidence can go through a poor spell in front of goal, it can happen to anyone. It’s always more likely to happen in youngsters still learning their craft as well.

Chelsea believe Gittens could suit them playing in Enzo Maresca’s system, which does allow its wingers to stay wide and dribble 1v1 at opposition full-backs.
