Chelsea offered one of their players to a top European club during the summer transfer window.

Chelsea wanted to offload a lot of their players, which saw the likes of Raheem Sterling, Romelu Lukaku and Kepa Arrizabalaga leave the club.

However, the Blues could not get rid of everyone, while Sterling and Kepa have only left Stamford Bridge on loan.

Kepa was recently criticised by Shay Given for a mistake he made against Sterling’s Arsenal over the weekend.

Chelsea offered Ben Chilwell to Borussia Dortmund

Ben Chilwell was another player whom Chelsea wanted to move on. Enzo Maresca made it clear during the summer that he did not have room for the left-back.

In the end, Chilwell remained at Chelsea and has since been reintegrated into the first-team squad.

However, according to Sky Sports Germany, the Blues offered the 27-year-old to Borussia Dortmund before his return to Maresca’s group.

The same outlet claims that the Champions League club discussed bringing Chilwell in but ultimately decided against it.

Chelsea could offer Ben Chilwell to Borussia Dortmund again

While Chilwell is training with the senior squad, it is quite clear that he is not part of Maresca’s long-term plans.

His only appearance so far this season has come in the Carabao Cup, while it has been claimed that Chelsea still want to sell Chilwell.

Sky Sports Germany’s report says that Dortmund have not ruled out signing a new left-back in January, with the final decision lying with manager Nuri Sahin.

With Dortmund seemingly open to bringing in a new left-back, then, perhaps Chelsea will offer the Bundesliga outfit another chance to sign Chilwell.

The England international, whom Chelsea signed from Leicester City for £50m back in 2020, really needs to leave west London. Maresca is just going to continue overlooking him.

Chilwell has also been linked to Crystal Palace, who have already signed central defender Trevoh Chalobah on loan from Chelsea.
