Chelsea are now being linked with a move to sign a new winger in the summer transfer window, and they’re apparently ahead of both Arsenal and Liverpool in the transfer race for a certain individual.

The Chelsea squad is pretty stacked with quality young players, especially when you include the current stars out on loan as well.

Chelsea will go big on summer transfers to sign a new goalkeeper, centre-back and striker. The transfer rumours suggest that the Blues could strengthen other areas as well.

In terms of the wide positions, the likes of Jadon Sancho, Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto have been competing for the starting spots. Estevao Willian will join Chelsea’s group next season as well.

Chelsea lead race to sign Borussia Dortmund star Karim Adeyemi

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea are currently frontrunners in the transfer race to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi in the summer.

Apparently, the Blues are still keen on the 23-year-old winger after looking at him in the recent January transfer window.

The report claims that he could be available to buy for around €45m (£37m) from German Bundesliga giants Dortmund. Even though Chelsea are leading the race for the attacker, they face rival interest from Arsenal and Liverpool for his signature.

It’s previously been claimed that Blues head coach Enzo Maresca admires the Dortmund forward. Maresca is a big fan of Adeyemi’s pace, plus he likes the idea of Chelsea trying to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

He’s had an injury-hit campaign so far in Dortmund colours, but the speedster’s still shown glimpses of his quality and potential.

How Karim Adeyemi compares to Chelsea winger

We do worry that Adeyemi would be more of the same at Chelsea.

Unfortunately, the current crop of Blues wingers show up in moments, but they’re not producing enough goal contributions.

If the Blues want to go out and recruit another wide player, it’s surely got to be to bring in someone who’s capable of scoring 15-20 goals every season.

It could be worth giving Tyrique George more game time rather than adding someone in Adeyemi’s mould. George is ready to play more for Chelsea after impressing in the first team since stepping up from the Blues acaedmy.
