Chelsea have the opportunity to sign one of Europe’s most in-form strikers this summer when the transfer window opens.
Nicolas Jackson is the only experienced centre-forward currently in Chelsea’s squad, while his form in the second half of this season has not been great.
The 23-year-old has not scored in 13 games, failing to net once again in the Blues’ 2-1 win against Fulham last weekend.
As a result, Chelsea could now sign Liam Delap, while there are also other options on the market for Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea can activate Serhou Guirassy’s unique release clause
Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy is one of those potential alternatives to Delap for Chelsea.
The 29-year-old has been in excellent form for Dortmund this season, so the German club will not want to sell him. However, if Chelsea come knocking, there is not much they can do.
According to Sky Sports Germany, Chelsea are one of seven teams who are able to trigger Guirassy’s release clause.
Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal are the other six. Given his performances in the current campaign, it would not be a surprise if at least one of those clubs tried to sign the Dortmund star.
Guirassy has scored 29 goals in 41 appearances, recently bagging a hat-trick against Barcelona in the Champions League.
| Serhou Guirassy’s 2024/25 stats | Appearances | Goals |
| Bundesliga | 26 | 16 |
| Champions League | 14 | 13 |
| DFB-Pokal | 1 | 0 |
| Total | 41 | 29 |
With Delap and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike being much younger than Guirassy, though, Chelsea are probably more likely to sign one of the two.
Going into the summer, Chelsea have added Ekitike to their shortlist, so the Frenchman is one alternative to Delap.

Chelsea have considered signing Serhou Guirassy in the past
This is not the first time there has been talk about Chelsea potentially signing Guirassy. The Blues were linked with the Guinea international last summer.
In fact, it was claimed that Chelsea considered signing Guirassy when he was still at Stuttgart.
In the end, though, Guirassy went on to join Dortmund, who have been repaid for the faith that they have shown in him.
