This season, Marc Cucurella has been Chelsea’s first-choice left-back, making 17 appearances in the Premier League.

Renato Veiga and Malo Gusto have covered him, while Ben Chilwell is still at Chelsea for the time being, so Enzo Maresca has options in that area of the pitch.

Nevertheless, the club still appear to be looking at other left-backs and now have the chance to sign one with the January transfer window open.

Chelsea lost their last match against Ipswich Town and their current first-choice left-back Cucurella explained what went wrong after the full-time whistle.

Chelsea continue to track Antonee Robinson’s progress at Fulham

Last March, it was reported that Chelsea were keen on Antonee Robinson, and it looks like the Fulham man is still of interest to them.

According to GiveMeSport, the Blues have continued to keep an eye on Robinson‘s progress.

The same outlet claims that Fulham value the 27-year-old around the £40m mark, making him more than affordable for a club like Chelsea.

He has been a key player for Marco Silva’s side this season, helping them to beat Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge last month.

Antonee Robinson stopped Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah is the most in-form player in the Premier League but came up short in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Fulham.

The forward failed to score that day — a rarity for him — and really struggled against Robinson.

Robinson’s manager, Silva, thought he was “unbelievable” in that thrilling game at Anfield.

“Being clear, what a performance from him,” Silva was quoted as saying by Fulham’s official website after the match. “What a performance. Brilliant, unbelievable performance from him, and I told him at the end of the game that he has to be really proud.”

Journalist Sam Blitz, who recently wrote an analysis piece on Sky Sports about Robinson, said: “Six days after limiting [Bukayo] Saka to scraps in Arsenal’s 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage, Robinson did battle with Salah down the wing at Anfield last weekend — and won the individual contest.”

Ultimately, if Robinson has been auditioning for a transfer to Chelsea, then he has passed it. The USA international has proven this season that he is one of the best left-backs in the Premier League and can stop the division’s best.

Having him and Cucurella would give Chelsea amazing depth in the left-back position.
