Chelsea have had no problems spending big on teenagers under owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.

Chelsea could end up paying just over £50m in total for Estevao Willian after agreeing a deal with Palmeiras to sign the winger.

It is a lot of money for a teenager, but the Blues may not be done there amid links with another rising star.

Estevao will officially join Chelsea next year. Chelsea’s transfer battle for Estevao was a crazy one, according to Fabrizio Romano, who has promised to reveal more details about it in the future.

Sunderland name Chris Rigg price

Sunderland midfielder Chris Rigg could be the next talented teenager Chelsea snap up.

According to CaughtOffside, Chelsea and Premier League rivals Manchester United are both eager to sign the 17-year-old.

However, Rigg will not come cheap. The same outlet claims that Sunderland could demand up to £30m for their gem.

Rigg has made 12 appearances in the Championship for the Black Cats this season, scoring three goals. Last month, it was claimed that Chelsea had been scouting Rigg.

Who is Chris Rigg similar to?

Based on what his former manager Tony Mowbray has said about him, United fans would probably be pleased if their club beat Chelsea to Rigg’s signature.

Last year, Mowbray actually compared Rigg to United legend Roy Keane, telling the BBC: “He wants to win every tackle, every 5-a-side, every contest he’s in, which is pretty unique in a footballer. I shouldn’t really say it, but it’s that Roy Keane-esque type of nastiness.”

Looking at Chelsea’s current squad, the Blues have good midfield options. Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernandez, Romeo Lavia and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall can all play in the middle of the pitch.

Chelsea also have a couple of young midfielders out on loan, Andrey Santos and Lesley Ugochukwu, who are only a few years older than Rigg.

Rigg fits Chelsea’s transfer strategy, but he may not see a clear pathway into their first team and they may not be able to offer him one, so it is not a transfer that is guaranteed.
