Chelsea are looking to offload quite a few of their players before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Chelsea have several unwanted players still at the club, including the likes of Ben Chilwell, Romelu Lukaku and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has already made it known that Chilwell is free to leave west London this summer. Rangers legend Ally McCoist wasn’t happy with Maresca after he made those comments, though it may very well be in the left-back’s best interest to depart after losing his spot in the team to Marc Cucurella.

The Blues are also expected to make more signings, with Joao Felix set to join the club from Atletico Madrid.

Chelsea’s asking price for Ben Chilwell

Chelsea look prepared to sell Chilwell for half of the price that they bought him for back in 2020.

According to the Daily Mirror, while a loan move is most likely at this stage, the club would listen to offers of around £25m.

In terms of where Chilwell could end up, the 27-year-old has been linked with a switch to Newcastle United.

It has been claimed that Newcastle have Chilwell on their radar as they weigh up making a move for him ahead of the transfer deadline next week.

£25m for Ben Chilwell could be a bargain

If anyone ends up signing Chilwell for £25m this summer, that could end up being a really good deal for them.

While Maresca may not fancy the Englishman, he is still a quality full-back, who is capable of getting forward. As per FBref, Chilwell has ranked in the 94th percentile for touches in the attacking penalty area among his positional peers over the last year.

“I thought Ben Chilwell was fantastic,” Frank Lampard told Chelsea’s official website after one of Chilwell’s performances back in the 2020/21 season.

When you look at someone like Renato Veiga, for example, a 21-year-old who has just arrived at Stamford Bridge, you may not be able to describe him as a clear upgrade on Chilwell. However, the problem for the England international is that Maresca sees both him and Cucurella as better fits for his system.
