Chelsea may reportedly allow one of their expensive youngsters to leave the club this summer if they receive an acceptable transfer offer.

Chelsea have been so aggressive in the transfer market since the change of ownership a couple of years ago, which has included signing numerous young players deemed as stars for the future.

How many of these Blues talents will the supporters actually get to ever see shine at Stamford Bridge, though?

It may bode well for prospects at the club that journalist Guillem Balague previously reported via BBC Sport that Enzo Maresca impressed Chelsea’s owners with knowledge of the academy.

Deivid Washington may even be sold by Chelsea

According to The Athletic, Chelsea youngster Deivid Washington could be someone that gets an overseas loan before the summer transfer window shuts.

However, the report further states that the 19-year-old attacker could actually be sold by the Blues if any club submits an acceptable bid.

Chelsea paid £17.2m (BBC) to sign Washington from Santos back in August 2023. Therefore, it may shock some fans that there’s already a chance he could leave permanently 12 months later.

The young striker spent last season in and around the senior squad, but he only made three first-team appearances for the Blues. He did at least score six goals in 11 games for the club’s Under-21s side.

He should be loaned

It makes very little sense to cash in on Washington before giving him a fair shot.

Journalist Simon Phillips reported via Substack in July that Chelsea were planning a first senior loan for Washington. Hopefully, the teenage forward gets in his loan move and any speculation about a permanent exit disappears.

Still only 19, Washington is at the infancy of his career and there must be a reason Chelsea splashed the cash for him a year ago. It would be great to see him go and play first-team football somewhere in the upcoming season.
