Manchester United signing Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea during this transfer window now looks highly unlikely.

It was recently reported that United had held talks with Jackson’s agent over a potential move to Old Trafford.

However, a switch to Ruben Amorim’s side no longer appears to be on the table, which is a bit of a setback for the striker.

Jackson needs to consider all of his options right now after Chelsea‘s decision to bring in two new No.9s, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. The 24-year-old is no longer guaranteed game time at Stamford Bridge.

Nicolas Jackson to Manchester United ruled out after Chelsea’s demands

Rio Ferdinand is a fan of Jackson, but the United legend will not get the chance to see the Senegal international play for his former club next season.

According to The Athletic, while Jackson has been a player under consideration at Old Trafford, a move to United has now been ruled out because of Chelsea’s demands.

It was thought that Jackson was open to joining United, but the Chelsea star will now need to consider alternative options if he does decide to leave west London.

Newcastle United are also said to be interested in Jackson, so St James’ Park could be a potential destination for him this summer.

With Alexander Isak’s future at the club in doubt, Newcastle are rumoured to have Jackson on a shortlist of possible replacements for the Swede.

How much do Chelsea want for Nicolas Jackson?

After signing Jackson from Villarreal for £32m in 2023, Chelsea are looking to make a hefty profit on the centre-forward.

Various price tags have been floating about, with one report even claiming that Jackson could cost as much as £80m.

At that price, it is not surprising that United have ended their interest in Jackson. Unless that valuation is lowered, co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley are not going to be able to sell the former Villarreal man.

Jackson will not want to head into the new Premier League season as the third-choice striker in Enzo Maresca‘s squad, though. All in all, his situation is one to watch closely while the transfer window remains open.
