Chelsea have now held internal discussions about signing Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite.

That is according to transfer speculation this week.

Jarrad Branthwaite, who’s just 21, is a highly-rated defender shining in the Premier League this season for Everton.

The English centre-back looks destined for a big future when you watch how mature he is already.

90min claims that Chelsea scouts are currently searching across the market to find a new young central defender.

It is explained that Everton star Brranthwaite has now been discussed by the Blues.

Incidentally, the report adds that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have identified Sporting Lisbon’s 20-year-old centre-half Ousmane Diomande as their main defensive target for the summer.

Chelsea discuss Jarrad Branthwaite

From what we’ve seen of Branthwaite, it’s only a matter of time before he’s snapped up by a big club for a huge transfer fee.

There’s certainly shades of a young John Stones, who went from a young Everton talent into a serial winner at Manchester City. He’s currently one of the outstanding players in Sean Dyche’s team at Goodison Park.

The i reported last month that Everton have slapped a massive £100 million price tag on Branthwaite.

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail claimed that Real Madrid are interested in signing rising star Branthwaite.

He’s a 6ft 5in colossus that is strong, fast and good in the air. On top of that, he’s got all the attributes of a modern day centre-back with great ball-playing qualities and a cultured left foot.

Of course, we don’t want to watch Chelsea go splash another £100m fee on a player. We’re pretty confident about the Everton defender’s talent, but we suspect a clash of styles with Levi Colwill.
