Chelsea may be about to sell one of their youngsters to a rival Premier League club.

The Chelsea academy has been so productive across recent decades in helping to produce super talented young players.

Blues first-team stars such as Reece James and Levi Colwill developed in the club’s academy. Unfortunately, there’s not room for everybody to follow the same path as them at Stamford Bridge.

The likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi (Nottingham Forest), Lewis Hall (Newcastle United), Declan Rice (Arsenal) and Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace) all played in Chelsea’s youth system before going on to major success elsewhere.

Chelsea agree to sell Zain Silcott-Duberry to Bournemouth

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported via X on Thursday that Bournemouth have agree terms with Chelsea to sign Zain Silcott-Duberry.

It is explained that Premier League outfit Bournemouth have agreed a deal for the 19-year-old Blues prospect. Apparently, the English attacker will pen a deal with the Cherries that runs until the summer of 2028.

In addition, Romano states that Chelsea negotiated a sell on clause and future incentives for senior appearances.

It’s important news for the Blues that the player’s sale will include a sell on clause because the success rate of youngsters from Cobham is very high in recent years.

Silcott-Duberry, who’s still only a teenager, has played in various Chelsea youth teams in previous seasons. He’s still waiting to make his first-team debut in football, though.

Hopefully, the versatile attacker can develop into a senior football down on the South Coast with Bournemouth.

It does look like the winger won’t be the only individual to leave the club in this window. Apparently, Harvey Vale will leave Chelsea after nine years as he receives transfer interest from plenty of suitors. Elsewhere, Chelsea youngster Samuel Rak-Sakyi is attracting loan interest.

Is the Chelsea academy still producing players for the first team?

It’s always frustrating to see young players move on from Chelsea without getting a crack in the senior squad, but the reality is that it’s a very tough group to break into.

Even though some Blues prospects are moving on, it’s encouraging to see there’s still a pathway into Enzo Maresca’s first team. Josh Acheampong and Tyrique George, both 18, are evidence of that this season.

Acheampong and George are fully integrated in the first-team dressing room after a promotion from the academy, so it should give the current crop of Under-21s players inspiration that they can do the same.

Chelsea value Acheampong as a ‘world-class prospect’, so it’s great to see the academy keeps thriving behind the scenes.
