Chelsea have reportedly turned down an offer from an overseas club for their 21-year-old player.

While the Premier League transfer window may have shut last week, there’s several European divisions that still have time to sign players before their respective deadlines. Interestingly, several Blues individuals are still linked with potential exits from Stamford Bridge this month.

For example, 27-year-old defender Ben Chilwell is rumoured to be a target for Jose Mourinho’s side. It’s been claimed by TEAMtalk that Fenerbahce are set for further talks this weekend about signing Chilwell.

Chelsea reject offer for David Datro Fofana

According to TEAMtalk, Greek club AEK Athens have now made an opening offer to sign Chelsea’s David Datro Fofana on loan. They’ve got until 11 September before the transfer deadline in Greece.

It is understood that the Blues have rejected the approach for their 21-year-old striker, though.

The report explains that Chelsea would much prefer to sell Fofana to help them balance the books, and they want between £10-12m for him with a big sell-on included in any deal.

AEK are ‘keen’ on signing the Ivory Coast international to bolster their attack, so let’s see if they’re willing to negotiate any further.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano previously reported via X that Chelsea were hopeful of securing Fofana a transfer move after the Premier League deadline.

It’s time to go

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like there’s a pathway for Fofana into the first team at Chelsea. Therefore, it would be great for all parties if a deal can be sorted out in the next week.

The young centre-forward spent last season out on two separate loans, first in Germany with Union Berlin, followed by Burnley in the Premier League. Here is how the Blues-owned player performed last year…

Former Clarets manager Vincent Kompany described Fofana as “outstanding” after one display last season via Burnley Express. He’s certainly a quick striker with plenty of enthusiasm and movement, but will AEK be willing to buy him on a permanent basis?
