Chelsea have decided that Brighton’s Moises Caicedo will be their priority target in the next couple of days rather than Romeo Lavia.
That is according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
We’ve seen both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia receive numerous transfer links to Chelsea in the past day. It seems like the Brighton star is the midfielder favoured by the Blues, though.

Jacobs has claimed on Twitter that Chelsea’s immediate focus for the next 48 hours is to get a deal for Caicedo over the line.
He’s explained that it’s unclear right now if the Blues will improve their bid for Lavia, who’s rated at £50million-plus by Southampton.
For now, all eyes will be on bringing Brighton’s defensive midfielder to Stamford Bridge.
Incidentally, this transfer saga is separate to Thursday’s claims that Leeds midfielder Tyler Adams is joining the Blues. Journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed on Twitter today that Chelsea have activated the Leeds man’s £20million release clause ahead of his transfer to west London.

The Times reports that Chelsea’s recent bid for Lavia has been rejected by Southampton.
In our view, focusing attention on Caicedo is the right play in the transfer market.
The Evening Standard claims today that Chelsea are planning a move worth £100million including add-ons to sign Caicedo.
There’s been concern in the Blues fanbase that they’ve lost the experienced bunch of N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho in 2023. The midfield trio have been vital players at the Bridge in recent years.
However, it’s very exciting to see the new-look midfield taking shape for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, albeit there’s a lot of stress finding out who will eventually join.
