Chelsea had a free run at Jamie Gittens before the Club World Cup kicked off, but that looks to have changed now.
Chelsea were interested in signing Gittens during the first transfer window of the summer, hoping to recruit him in time for the Club World Cup.
However, the Blues and Borussia Dortmund could not come to an agreement over the price of the deal.
Since then, Bayern Munich have identified Gittens as a target, which is not a positive development for Chelsea.

Chelsea still plan to sign Jamie Gittens
The Conference League winners do have other wingers on their shortlist. For example, it is thought that Chelsea also appreciate Alejandro Garnacho.
Even so, Gittens appears to be their priority, and it does not look like Bayern’s interest in the 20-year-old will scare them off.
According to The Standard, Chelsea have decided that they will still try and sign Gittens this summer, with Enzo Maresca in desperate need of reinforcements in the wide positions.
The Chelsea manager has lost Jadon Sancho and is also without Mykhailo Mudryk. It means Pedro Neto, Noni Madueke and Tyrique George are currently the only natural wingers in his squad.
At the same time, though, it is quite clear that Chelsea will not let Dortmund bully them into paying any price for their England Under-21 international.

What Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director has said about Bayern Munich’s interest in Jamie Gittens
Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl has denied that Bayern’s director of sport Max Eberl has been in contact with him about Gittens.
“I’m not currently in contact with Max Eberl, but otherwise we have a very good relationship,” Kehl told reporters (via Goal). “Nevertheless, there’s nothing to say on the subject at the moment.”
It is good news for Chelsea, but a Bayern approach could come soon, especially if Nico Williams goes on to join Barcelona. The Spain international was thought to have been Bayern’s top target for the winger position.
It means Chelsea may need to move fast to avoid the risk of missing out on Gittens to Bayern. While everything suggests that Gittens has his heart set on a move to Stamford Bridge, a club of Bayern’s stature can be persuasive to say the least.
