Chelsea could make at least one big signing during the January transfer window.

Enzo Maresca will be happy with his Chelsea squad right now, especially his attack. Nicolas Jackson is in good form and the Blues are one of the highest-scoring teams in the Premier League.

Only four sides have scored more goals than Chelsea, who are yet to play this weekend.

Nevertheless, the Blues could sign a new striker in January. Brighton & Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson is one option for Chelsea heading into 2025.

Chelsea interested in Evan Ferguson

Earlier this week, it was reported that Brighton are willing to loan Ferguson to another club in January.

However, a permanent deal also looks possible, with the Seagulls having seemingly named their price for the forward.

According to CaughtOffside, Brighton have slapped a £60m price tag on Ferguson and Chelsea have indicated an interest in signing him.

Ferguson has made eight appearances in the Premier League this season, but only one of those has been a start, so an exit next month could be good for the 20-year-old.

Evan Ferguson’s stats last season

During the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, Ferguson played 27 matches. Fifteen of those were starts and 12 were substitute appearances.

In total, the Irish youngster scored six goals, including a hat-trick against Newcastle United. He showed a lot of promise at times last term but was not really able to kick on following his treble versus Eddie Howe’s men.

Whatever the case, Ferguson has a lot of potential. He could be a good back-up option for Jackson.

However, the Republic of Ireland international will want to leave Brighton for more game time. It does not make much sense to join another club where he is not going to play.

At Chelsea, that is likely to happen, with Jackson scoring goals at the minute and Christopher Nkunku still at the club.
