Chelsea had no success with one bid they made during the summer transfer window.
The Blues managed to get a lot of business done, signing the likes of Joao Pedro and Alejandro Garnacho.
They were also able to sell a lot of players, too, offloading Noni Madueke and Joao Felix for big money. In the future, Chelsea could sell Nicolas Jackson for a huge fee as well. Jackson only joined Bayern Munich on loan, but they have an obligation to buy the striker if certain conditions are met.
There were other deals, however, that the club could just not get over the line, which would have disappointed Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

Barcelona did not respond to Chelsea’s Fermin Lopez offer
After deciding not to sign Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, Chelsea became very keen on Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez.
At one point, it was claimed that Lopez was considering joining Chelsea but a move failed to materialise.
One reason a transfer never happened was because Barcelona simply had no interest in selling the attacking midfielder.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Club World Cup winners made a €40m (£34.8m) offer for Lopez, but his current employers “didn’t even bother responding” to it.
While Lopez did reportedly think about moving to west London, in the end, he also wanted to remain in Spain.
Lopez spoke to Lamine Yamal and the rest of the Barcelona dressing room about Chelsea’s interest in him, telling them that he was happy at the Camp Nou.

What Chelsea guaranteed Fermin Lopez
Despite spending a large part of the summer chasing Simons, Chelsea seemed really determined to sign Lopez.
It is thought that Chelsea guaranteed Lopez a key role in their team as they tried to persuade him to move to Stamford Bridge.
In the past, Lopez has been hailed as an “extraordinary kid” by Spain manager Luis de la Fuente (via Barca Blaugranes). It is easy to understand why Chelsea wanted him, but it was not to be, unfortunately for the Blues.
