Chelsea could decide to step up interest in signing Arsenal’s goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

There’s a new report in the media that indicates Chelsea may ramp up their move for Aaron Ramsdale ahead of next month’s January transfer window.

Apparently, an injury to Blues number one keeper Robert Sanchez could lead to a reaction in the New Year.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino confirmed today via Football London that Sanchez could miss “a few weeks” with a knee injury. That leaves inexperienced youngster Djordje Petrovic to take up the gloves against Sheffield United this weekend in the Premier League.

TalkSPORT has claimed that Chelsea are contemplating stepping up their interest in Ramsdale because Sanchez faces a spell on the sidelines with a knee problem.

It is explained that Ramsdale is expected to exit the Emirates Stadium after losing the starting position to David Raya, but there’s no guarantee it will happen midway through this season.

The report suggests that Chelsea are willing to launch a move for the England international, but Arsenal would want to find a suitable replacement before agreeing to any kind of transfer sale.

Chelsea interest in Aaron Ramsdale

TEAMtalk reported earlier in the season that Chelsea have set their sights on Arsenal’s £60million-rated goalkeeper Ramsdale as a potential target for next summer.

The 25-year-old gloveman does have a lot of quality as both a shot-stopper and a modern keeper that can play out from the back, but he’s been overtaken by Raya in Arsenal’s pecking order this term.

We could fairly listen to arguments that an in-form Ramsdale is better than anything Chelsea currently own in the goalkeeper department. However, we’re still not fully convinced that he’s in the elite bracket of player that the club should target in-between the sticks.

Let’s wait and see what Pochettino’s side do in such a key area on the pitch.
