Chelsea are now considering a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain star Leandro Paredes.

That is according to a report from The Evening Standard.

They claim that Chelsea are now interested in signing Leandro Paredes, 29, during this summer transfer window.

It is explained that the Blues are growing frustrated with their attempts to sign Brighton’s £100million-rated midfielder Moises Caicedo. They failed with their latest £80million offer so are starting to consider alternative options.

The report says that Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino would like some more experience in his squad for the upcoming season, so Chelsea are now looking at a player he previously coached at PSG.

Paredes will be familiar with several people at Chelsea right now, including fellow Argentina international Enzo Fernandez.

Chelsea head coach Pochettino recently worked with Paredes in Paris. In fact, there was a wild incident involving the pair last year.

Pochettino explained in February of last year that he thought Paredes had broken his nose by mistake when celebrating a Kylian Mbappe goal, as quoted by Football Daily.

It’s certainly a memorable tale to tell the squad if he does join.

The Evening Standard’s report mentions that Paredes will be available at a ‘reasonable price’ during this summer transfer window.

He was loaned out to Italian club Juventus last season and is now in the final year of his PSG contract.

In our view, this screams of a panic transfer that has been put together at the last minute.

We would like Chelsea to press ahead with plans to sign Caicdeo, albeit Brighton are proving yet again to be extremely tough negotiators.

Sky Sports reports that Brighton are expecting Chelsea to launch a new bid worth over £80million for 21-year-old Caicedo.

We would much rather see Pochettino’s side invest in a Premier League proven talent like Caicedo than take a punt on Paredes, who could be just another Saul Niguez.
