Chelsea could find themselves going toe-to-toe with Juventus to sign one centre-forward next year.

Despite Nicolas Jackson’s impressive form this season, with the 23-year-old scoring seven goals in 12 league appearances, Chelsea still appear to be on the lookout for a new striker.

The Blues have been linked with both Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres.

However, Osimhen’s plan is to remain at Galatasaray, where he is currently on loan.

Juventus and Chelsea both interested in Victor Osimhen

Chelsea tried to sign Osimhen from Napoli before his loan move to Galatasaray at the end of the last transfer window.

The Nigerian snubbed them, but he still appears to be on their radar. According to the Daily Briefing, Chelsea are still interested in him.

However, their report states that Juventus are keen on Osimhen, too, and have already made contact over a potential €75m (£62.6m) deal.

While the 25-year-old is proving to be a success in Turkey, it has been claimed that Galatasaray will not try and sign Osimhen permanently.

How do Victor Osimhen and Nicolas Jackson compare?

Osimhen is obviously a top striker. In fact, during a press conference as AS Roma manager, Jose Mourinho labelled Osimhen as a “world-class” forward.

However, at this stage, you have to question whether Chelsea still actually need the Nigeria international.

Again, Jackson has done well leading the line for Enzo Maresca‘s side this season. In fact, his stats are quite similar to Osimhen, though the latter has played fewer games.

Whatever the case, if Jackson finishes the campaign with 20 goals in the Premier League, for example, then the Blues will not need to bring in a high-profile No.9. You cannot ask for much more from your first-choice striker.

Of course, if the goals start to dry up and Jackson cannot reach that tally, then it may be worth signing a Osimhen or a Gyokeres. The ball could be in the Senegal international’s court, then.
