‘World-class’ forward confirms he won’t leave his club in January despite Chelsea interest

It looks like Chelsea will have to wait until next summer to sign one player whom they are interested in.

Despite links with the likes of Victor Osimhen and Alexander Isak in the last transfer window, Chelsea failed to bring in a top striker.

Both players are still thought to be of interest to the Blues. Last month, it was claimed that Chelsea were in contact with Osimhen’s camp about a January move.

As for Newcastle United’s main striker, Chelsea are still circling around Isak, who is yet to sign a new contract at St James’ Park.

Victor Osimhen staying at Galatasaray

After his failed move from Napoli to Chelsea, Osimhen ended up joining Galatasaray on a season-long loan instead.

It has been reported that a break clause could actually see Osimhen leave Galatasaray in January, but the forward seems to have poured cold water on that.

When asked if he will be at the Turkish club for the second half of the season, the 25-year-old said: “Yes, I am here.”

If Nicolas Jackson keeps on scoring, then it will not be a problem for Chelsea. Jackson has already scored six goals for Enzo Maresca‘s side in the Premier League.

Chelsea could sign Viktor Gyokeres instead of Victor Osimhen

At this point, Chelsea signing Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres seems more likely than Osimhen, whom Jose Mourinho once described as a “world-class striker” in a Roma press conference.

Chelsea are interested in Gyokeres and may be able to sign him for £58m, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg. That is significantly lower than his release clause.

The 26-year-old has been on fire once again this season, scoring 14 goals in 14 games. Last term, he netted 43 times in 50 outings.

Again, if Jackson can finish the campaign like how he has started it, there may not be a need for Chelsea to sign either Gyokeres or Osimhen. But if not and the club do want to bring in another No.9, you can easily see them turning to Gyokeres, as it is never straightforward with Osimhen.
