Chelsea now unlikely to sign £50m Premier League striker despite recently meeting with agent

Chelsea signing a new centre-forward this summer seems inevitable at this point.

Chelsea have been linked with so many different names, including Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Delap is high on Chelsea’s list so could be the striker who arrives at Stamford Bridge when the transfer window opens.

However, another Premier League No.9 who has been linked to the Blues now looks unlikely to join.

Chelsea unlikely to sign Rodrigo Muniz

Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz is thought to be of interest to Chelsea. It was recently claimed that Chelsea have actually met with Muniz’s agent.

The 23-year-old, though, does not look like he will be making the short trip to Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to GiveMeSport, while Fulham could be prepared to sell Muniz for £50m, a move to Chelsea is unlikely.

This is not the first time there has been talk about Chelsea being interested in the Brazilian.

Last summer, it was reported that Chelsea made contact about signing Muniz, though nothing materialised in the end.

He was really impressive for Fulham last season, scoring nine goals in 26 Premier League appearances. This term, Muniz has eight in 31.

One of those goals came against Chelsea, so Enzo Maresca will be well aware of what he is capable of.

Rodrigo Muniz’s cameo against Chelsea

Muniz did not feature in Fulham’s 2-1 defeat to Chelsea last weekend, but he did play in their victory in the reverse fixture.

Muniz was only on the pitch for around 15 minutes, but the former Flamengo player was still able to make a huge impact.

It was Muniz who was able to score the winner for Marco Silva’s side, taking two shots in total. He also won both of the aerial duels he competed in.

Muniz would not really be an upgrade on Nicolas Jackson, though, so Chelsea fans will not be too disappointed about him staying at Fulham or moving elsewhere.
