Chelsea target and Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap is attracting a lot of interest in England and abroad.

It is no surprise, as Delap has been fantastic for Kieran McKenna’s side this season. Despite Ipswich’s struggles in the Premier League, the 22-year-old has still managed to reach double figures for goals.

In 32 appearances, Delap has scored 12 times, while he has also managed to register a couple of assists along the way.

In doing so, Delap has caught Chelsea’s attention, but the Blues are not the only club interested in him.

Liam Delap wants to stay in the Premier League

Chelsea and Manchester United both want Delap, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

There is interest from the Bundesliga as well, but Romano has claimed that the Englishman wants to remain in the Premier League.

Discussing Delap on GiveMeSport’s Market Madness, Romano said: “The idea is Chelsea or Man United. There is also interest from Germany — it’s true — but the player is really keen on staying in England, staying in the Premier League.

“So let’s see because for United now the full focus is obviously on the Europa League to understand if they will play Champions League football, similar to Chelsea but obviously in a different situation. So both of them are waiting to understand about Champions League football, about the financial investment they can make on the striker, but Delap is on both clubs’ lists for sure.”

If United beat Chelsea to the signing of Delap, there are some good potential alternatives out there for the Blues.

For example, they have a golden opportunity to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy. It is being reported that Chelsea can trigger Guirassy’s release clause this summer, as well as six other clubs.

After the season that the 29-year-old has had, he should be high on their list. In the 41 games he has played this term, Guirassy has been able to score 29 goals. Thirteen of his goals have come in the Champions League, which is a really impressive achievement.

Liam Delap on the top of another Premier League club’s list

Chelsea and United are not the only English sides targeting Delap. As well as the two giants, Everton are also believed to be keen on the Ipswich star.

It is thought that Delap is actually top of Everton’s list of striker targets, but Chelsea and United will not be fretting too much.

Both clubs can offer way more money than the Toffees and possibly even Champions League football, which would be hard to turn down.
